Get Rid of Mold in an HVAC system

There are many deciding factors that can allow mold to grow in an HVAC system yet there are as many ways to combat it. One thing to always remember is that mold spores are present in our air at all times. In order for spores to multiply and they need moisture, heat and a food source. Eliminating these from your HVAC system can aid in eliminating mold and mildew growth - which in turn causes bad odors and other risks.  Excessive moisture can be caused by humidity collecting on dirty coils and accumulating in air handler condensate pans.  Have coils cleaned at least twice a year to eliminate dirt buildup and treated with an antimicrobial product like mold control. Also have the pan drain and pump checked and also treated with a mold control agent. Additionally, make sure that ducts and duct work, especially near air handlers, is free of dust and debris. This dust is the "food" that mold likes to colonize on. Change air filters frequently and get ducts cleaned often.
